Steampunk

When I first came upon the term Steampunk on the net I instantly cried Eureka! Well actually I said Cool, but now I would cry Eureka.

It was Mr Jake von Slatt's The Steampunk Workshop. And as Mr von Slatt said, I was Steampunk long before I knew what Steampunk meant. I was transported from the world of the crazy into the world of the hip and creative. No longer would I have to try and explain why I was "going to all this work". Now I could just drop the label Steampunk and the crazy ball would be lobbed smartly into the inquisitor's court of reality. What, you have not heard of Steampunk? How empire of you. Now leave me alone and let me get back to building this thing.

Project one was to corner the market on old typewriters. Ebay and Craig's List where my new master. Three months, 40 typewriters, a few adding machines later my thirst for keys was satisfied at least enough to get a full night sleep.

Project two was to create a Steampunk home called Feydeau. Yes, I can be a bit impulsive and perhaps I have not completely shaken the crazy label. But even in this obsession I found others at The Steampunk House with which to share the madness. And madness shared is what passes for normal.
